Former PovertyNeck Hillbillies singer Abby Abbondanza will kickoff the release of his debut solo album "Promised Land" at his official CD release party at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse.
"Ever since the beginning of this project, I knew I wanted to kickoff my new solo career at my old stomping grounds," said Abbondanza. "When my manager asked me where I wanted to have my CD release party, there was no other place I had in mind but Pittsburgh. This is just one way that I want to show my thanks to the fans who continue to support me and give them the exclusive opportunity to purchase my album in advance of the digital release."
Junior and the West Virginia Push and Vanessa Campagna will open the all-ages show. Advance tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com for $25.
"Promised Land" features 11 tracks, including the album's self-titled single and a modern version of the Johnny Rivers classic "Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancin')."
Abbondanza wrote or co-wrote nine of the album's tracks. Shawn Pennington and Steve Peffer, both Pennsylvania natives, produced the album at the Sound Kitchen in Nashville.
"It's an incredibly rewarding experience to make a record and have creative control," said Abbondanza. "Once I sat down and started writing, everything just seemed to fall into place. Shawn and Steve really did a great job making these songs come alive on the album."
Abbondanza has been performing at a mix of clubs and fairs in and around the Pittsburgh area over the past few months.
